Celebrate the natural earth building material that abounds here in our urban desert by participating in VPA's first ever Superadobe workshop!
This hands-on workshop will cover all the basics of superadobe. What tools are needed will be shown and detailed, as well as a run-down of the mixture and stabilized mixture. Students will learn how to mix superadobe, stabilized earth, fill bags, and lay the earth tubes. Beginning foundation and water proofing will be taught and discussed for basic wall, retaining wall, and garden bed construction and design.
Keeping with the concepts of stacking functions, the project in this workshop will involve working with the contour and flood irrigation on the property in hopes to improve the greenfrastructure.
The work is very labor intensive and can be demanding. But Superadobe is designed for anyone of any fitness level and ages from 5 to 500. If you can lift 1 coffee can of earth you can build using superadobe. All are invited to participate within their limits. If they would like to take notes and pictures from the side that is also welcome. The more this education can be given the better!
The workshop will take place at a private residence in central Phoenix. The address will be sent to all registrants upon completion of registration.
Please note: RSVP in advance is REQUIRED for this event.
